What our park has to offer.

Iron Horse Park sits on 11.5 acres of land leased from the City of Airdrie Alberta. This land was originally a dumping area for non hazardous waste and has been upgraded to what it is today by our members, volunteers and sponsors who supplied manpower and/or equipment. Since 1997 our club started reshaping what was originally a flat and bleak, featureless landscape into what it is today. Our original 20 year lease has now been extended to the year 2027

Our Park and Railroad's amenities.

Our Park and Railroad's amenities include:

• 1625 Meters (5080 Feet) of 7-1/2" Gauge Mainline track not including sidings, using steel rail
• New Subdivision completed in 2016 to be operational summer 2017, adding 482 Meters (1,584 Feet) to our Mainline
• A hydraulic scissor lift and 6 Elevated Steaming Bays
• Two Tunnels, three Trestles, and a bridge on our Mainline
• Approximately 275 Meters (900 Feet) of 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 3-1/2", 4-3/4", 5", and 7-1/4" Gauge Elevated track & steaming bay.
• Public Picnic Facilities
• Mountain Subdivision with a two loop spiral track
• A wye to turn locomotives, these were used on the mainline if a turntable was not available.
• Full size trains on the Calgary to Edmonton CPR mainline can be viewed 200’ East of Iron Horse Park from our NE picnic area
• A replica CPR station and station masters gardens resplendent with flowers in summer
• Three automated block signals and road crossing alerts
• Nine electric switches with indicator lights
• Parking for 50 cars
• Railroadiana shop selling Engineers hats, train whistles and confectionery.
• Three club passenger trains with a total capacity in excess of 100 adult passengers. Our Red liveried CPR train is hauled by a scale AC4400, the Blue liveried VIA has a 1.5 inch scale FD40 powering it and now look for the latest addition our Green liveried 'Airdrie & Nose Creek Railway' train hauled by an AC4400 Dash-9
• Our latest, Santa Fe Dash-9 should be operational as well in 2017
• A variety of member owned Live Steam and Diesel outlined Locomotives
